I admitted my daughter Rubaiyyat Eshna in class -1X in Glen Hill Public School,39 Dow hill Road,P.O Kurseong-734 203,Dist Darjeeling India Tel: +91 354 2332387,Mobile: +919851111185,Email: gps@glenhillschool.com, glenhill85@gmail.com by paying IRS 56000.00 in equivalent local BD Taka to their local agent Mr. Gias Haider in Dhaka.
I applied for education visa for my daughter at Indian high commission Dhaka and having an interview with Mr. Santosh Mishra Education Attache, the visa was issued on 02-06-2011 bearing no.V/0689232 for triple entries.
I along with my daughter arrived at School on 13.06.11 and paid again IRS.61,700.00 to school authorities which covers all the expenses for education, boarding ,books, registration fees etc.I returned to Dhaka on 14.06.11 leaving my daughter to school authorities.
On 18.06.11, I was informed by the school Principal Mr.Jolly David Pradhan that my daughter’s ankle is slightly hurt and swollen. I requested him to do every treatment for her recovery. He told me not to worry and they are taking care. Which they did not told me the fact that she jumped from the school compound and tried to escape for the reason of severe torture at school by his wife Mrs. Poonam Jolly.I also came to know from different sources that Principal’s wife is mentally sick.This was also informed to me by a local citizen of Kurseong Mr. Sarod over telephone.He also informed me in the name of rules of school they beat up students often. They beat up her mercilessly when she only asked Principal that she wants to talk with me over phone. In the school prospectus it is written that the school is well equipped with all the facilities in the hostel required for students. But in fact the school gives corporal punishment to students with inadequate class rooms, very poor food and with dirty toilets and beds. They have a very poor infrastructure to enroll international students. I was not allowed to visit class rooms and dormitories as this was not permitted as per school rules. I began to make queries from different sources about the real fact happened to my daughter and by repeatedly contacting Principal over phone. He assured me there is nothing like this and everything is all right.
I requested Principal to inform me about her medical reports and X-ray and the medicines prescribed which he dilly- dallied to inform me with the real truth. On 21.06.11, I requested Principal to escort her up to Changrabandha and I will receive her at Burimari border. In spite of my repeated request first he denied doing so and at this stage I told him that I will inform the authorities of Indian and Bangladesh Government on this matter. Reluctantly he handed my daughter at Burimari border accompanying with a hired taxi driver on 23.06.11 without having any escort from school authorities.
When I saw my daughter I was astonished that she cannot walk even and all over her body there were bruises and marks of torture. I also came to know that the school is even not allowed for registration at CISCE(Delhi board) and their Bank account is suspended for not paying regularly VAT to Indian government. They cannot receive remittances officially through banking channels instead he insisted me to send money to his personal account number which is not allowed from Bangladesh.
Total amount I paid to school is IRs.1,17,700.00 for which I have money receipts and pocket money of IRs 2000.00 without money receipt. I took my daughter to doctor and she is now under treatment.
My clarion call to all concerned and seek justice and request embassies/high commissions not to issue visas to the overseas students who unknowingly seek visas for GLEN HILL PUBLIC SCHOOL and make an enquiry about the real facts and compel school to return all my money paid to them.The truth can be revealed by making an inquiry about the matter by the authorities. Their agent in Bangladesh must be punished who misguided parents and take commissions from school.
I’ am ready to provide any further information’s to any authorities if and when asked. She is now under treatment and all the medical reports are with me.
